FDA Recommends Tighter Controls on the Prescription of Hydrocodone

Studies have found that drug abuse runs as rampantly in the health professionals population as the general population, specifically the abuse of narcotic painkillers with the biggest concern being the drug hydrocodone. The FDA is recommending that hydrocodone be as tightly controlled as OxyContin in order to keep such large quantities out of patients hands and also restricting the number of medical personnel that are authorized to prescribe the drug.
